Refrigerated Display Cases Convey Fresh Image and Spark Impulse Sales

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa turned to Structural Concepts’ Oasis line to boost sales of cold beverages and grab-and-go items. After 12 years, Cool Beans, the eclectic coffee shop at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs, Fla., was in dire need of an overhaul. Cool Beans installed Structural Concepts’ Oasis refrigerated self-service cases for all beverages.
Serving as both a coffee shop and convenience store, the business needed to better reflect the upscale nature of the resort, which includes 454 guest rooms, 75,000 square feet of function space, a championship golf course and a world-class spa. Cool Beans is the place for guests to find sundries such as bug spray, sunscreen and complimentary DVDs. It’s also the place to get Starbucks and locally made ice cream, convenience foods such as bottled soft drinks, beer, bagged snacks and candy as well as beach cooler rentals.
Cool Beans’ renovation included Structural Concepts’ Oasis displays, which showcase grab-and-go menu items such as sandwiches, yogurt, water and other food products. The goal was to completely renovate this high-traffic operation. Efforts included replacing the old displays, which didn’t allow adequate space to merchandise product effectively. The look and the message had to be fresh.
“We wanted a cutting-edge design with a fresh and inviting look to be able to display products effectively and improve sales,” says Parviz Monsefan, director of food and beverage at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa. “We recognize that consumers want to know that their food is fresh and kept at proper temperatures. The proper display case can aid consumer knowledge in both of these areas.”
Cool Bean’s renovation included Structural Concepts’ Oasis displays, which best fit the needs of the business because they provide adequate space for displaying the variety of products available at the coffee shop and convenience store. The refrigerated self-service counter cases were installed as part of the renovation as grab-and-go displays for sandwiches, yogurt, water and other food products. These units featured a black interior, casters with levelers and a flat front panel.
Cool Beans also installed Structural Concepts’ Oasis refrigerated self-service cases for all beverages, including a smaller version for alcoholic beverages, such as beer and wine. Monsefan also appreciates the reliability of the displays in keeping product at the proper temperature in addition to their quiet operation. The mechanical units’ removable deck pans provide complete access to the evaporator coil and refrigeration connections, plus the units include easily adjustable shelving as well as an attractive lighting display. “Not only are these displays clean, but they include air curtains, which allow customers to see and touch the merchandise,” Monsefan says. “This encourages impulse sales, since guests are not just looking at product behind a glass door.
“We are definitely seeing increased sales of our Cool Beans products, which we attribute to the new displays,” Monsefan adds. “These units are great for managing our limited space and fit in well with our new cutting-edge look. We anticipate the displays will continue driving revenues at Cool Beans.”
Monsefan was familiar with Structural Concepts’ display options from reading hospitality magazines and also seeing the units being used in new stores. “I had also read many great reviews regarding these units on the internet,” Monsefan says. Hyatt worked with designer Innovative Foodservice Design Team (IFDT) for this project. The display equipment was provided by Louis Wohl & Sons.
